Jeuveau Injections
The latest addition to neuromodulators that utilize botulinum toxin A as their active ingredient is Jeuveau, a formula also dubbed “Newtox” for its similarity to the most popular and well-studied formula, Botox in Cedar Park. Both are FDA-approved formulas to treat facial wrinkles that appear when making certain expressions, that is, when flexing facial muscles. Jeuveau’s new formula differs slightly from Botox’s original, which may make it better for people in specific circumstances.
A small amount of the neuromodulator is injected directly into the underlying muscle, causing it to relax and gradually smooth out the appearance of the underlying skin.
What is Jeuveau?
Jeuveau is a neuromodulator that utilizes botulinum toxin to dampen the activity of muscles in the face to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It works by inhibiting the nerve signal to the muscles in the treated area, preventing them from contracting fully, thereby preventing the skin from creasing. Currently, Jeuveau is only FDA-approved for application between the eyebrows to soften glabellar lines, but other uses, deemed “off-label” are possible when Dr. Roy determines you’d be a good candidate.
Jeuveau’s Unique “Newtox” Formula
The reason Jeuveau has created so much buzz is that it’s the most recent Botox formula to be approved, gaining the FDA’s clearance in 2019. Its precise formula may work better in some individuals, particularly after trial and error with Botox or other neuromodulator treatments, and is a more affordable Botox alternative. This makes it perfect for some people who are trying neuromodulators for the first time and want to minimize its impact on their wallets.
Good Candidates for Jeuveau
The ideal Jeuveau patient is someone who is concerned that they look angrier, more tired, or older when they make certain expressions like frowning. People who have previously had neuromodulator injections of other formulas with unfavorable success can be excellent candidates for Jeuveau.
Anyone receiving botulinum toxin injections should be in generally good health, not allergic to the ingredients in its specific formula, and have realistic expectations of the results.
The Jeuveau Treatment
As with any neuromodulator, Jeuveau treatment begins with a consultation with our talented nurse injector, Crystal. After examining your concerns and taking your medical history, she will briefly go over your your medical history and clear you to receive the treatment. Crystal will recommend a product or treatment that will best address your problem areas and work for your timeline and budget.
During a Jeuveau appointment, our injector will make several injections with an ultra fine needle into the treatment area. These injections are painless and take only a few minutes.
Results and Recovery From Jeuveau
Jeuveau requires no downtime and has low risk of side effects. Once your treatment is done, you are free to go about the rest of your day, although many patients take the day off for added convenience. Common minimal side effects include bruising, swelling, redness, and pain. These are all temporary conditions that will subside within hours or a few days.
Your results won’t be visible immediately, as the neuromodulator takes a few days to begin its effects. Results usually appear after about a week, and depending on your unique case and metabolism, can last up to four months.

Jeuveau takes about 4-5 days before it kicks in. Results usually appear within a week.
