Sculptra
One of the main causes of aging is the loss of collagen and elastin, proteins in the skin that give it elasticity and volume. As the body naturally ages, collagen production slows down and existing fibers break down, leading to deep facial wrinkles, sagging skin, and volume loss on the entire body. Sun exposure and other environmental factors can speed up the aging process. Sculptra is uniquely designed to replenish lost collagen for long-lasting, natural results.
What is Sculptra?
Unlike other dermal fillers that use hyaluronic acid, Sculptra is a unique type of filler made with poly-L lactic acid (PLLA). This biocompatible molecule stimulates collagen production as it breaks down in the body. As collagen is stimulated, facial volume is restored, and deep wrinkles are filled in. One of the main benefits of Sculptra is that collagen builds naturally in the skin, creating a subtle rejuvenation that refreshes your natural youthful appearance.
Who is a Good Candidate for Sculptra?
Since Sculptra stimulates natural collagen production, there is minimal risk of an allergic reaction and almost anyone concerned with signs of aging can benefit. Patients should be in overall good health, non-smokers, and have realistic expectations for their results. Sculptra is designed to treat static wrinkles or those that are constantly present. Fine lines and wrinkles that develop with facial movements can be better treated with neuromodulators like Botox.
What Areas Can Sculptra Treat?

Sculptra for Marionette Lines – Lines that extend from the corners of the mouth down to the chin can be smoothed with Sculptra.
Sculptra for Chin Wrinkles – Sculptra can fill in and smooth fine lines on the chin and deep wrinkles.
Sculptra for Cheeks – Sculptra injections plump hollow cheeks and augment the cheekbones.
Sculptra for Jawline – Sculptra can soften the appearance of jowls and create a sharper jawline.
Sculptra for Temples – Hollow temples create a gaunt appearance, but Sculptra is a great way to combat this aging effect. Moderate to severe laugh lines (nasolabial folds) can be smoothed with Sculptra injections.
The Sculptra Process
Sculptra treatment begins with a consultation with our nurse injector at our Cedar Park office. After examining your skin and discussing your cosmetic concerns, she will be able to create a treatment plan. She can help you determine whether you are a good candidate for Sculptra and might recommend alternative treatments or a combination of treatments in addition to Sculptra to help you achieve the best possible results.
The Sculptra procedure is completed quickly with minimal discomfort. A topical numbing cream can be applied before your injections to keep you comfortable. Our nurse injector will perform the Sculptra injections to various points in the desired treatment area. The entire treatment should take about 30-45 minutes.
Sculptra Results and Recovery
Sculptra filler treatments require minimal downtime and recovery, but we do recommend that you avoid strenuous activity and direct sun exposure for 1-2 days. Mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness are common side effects that could be worsened by heat or exercise. Although you will see some immediate improvements, complete results will take about six weeks to develop as collagen production plumps the skin and restores volume. Sculptra is the only facial injectable that is FDA-approved and proven to last up to two years.
